RIO GRANDE ESTATES (subdivision): Rio Grande Estates is a subdivision in Socorro County that was created many decades ago and is now famous for being RV friendly, tiny home friendly, earthship friendly, and homesteader friendly. It is conveniently located about a 10 minute drive from I-25, and nestled between two mountain ranges. Route 60 is the nearest paved road. There are no zoning regulations! The beauty of this place is that you have peace and quiet but are still near to everything you need. The subdivision has dirt roads throughout, which are maintained pretty well and easily passable by truck or jeep, and even most sedans.
ROAD ACCESS: Yes, there is an established dirt road to the property.
SEWAGE: Septic (buyer to install if needed)
WATER: A private well or water-hauling will need to be utilized. For water hauling, many RV parks in the area will allow you to bring a large tote or cistern and fill it up on site, for a small fee. For wells, costs depend on drilling depth. Local drilling companies can give you a general estimate based on nearby well depths and explain the permitting process.
POWER: Solar is usually the most cost effective solution to set up in this area. However, if you would like to inquire about the cost of connecting power lines you can visit pnm.com/esg for details.
